John Siebenaler, b. abt 1853 in Germany, married Lizzie / Lissie / Eliese Wessling, b. abt 1857 in Germany, in Chicago, Illinois on 25 July 1874. Witnesses: Edward and Anna Schlick. Married by F. Roth, J. P. This is their ORIGINAL marriage certificate and what appears to be the original frame. Clearly, someone has added pink ribbons and flowers at a later date. Note that their original photos are also inserted in the marriage certificate.
I did some quick research:
1880 census, John was a cigar maker and was 27. Lissie was 23. They had a daughter Lily who was 2. This census was in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois.
1900 census, John was a bookkeeper (I later found out he worked with the union for the tobacco companies), born Aug 1852 in Luxemburg, wife Lizze (named on the census as Elisia), born Sep 1856 in Hannover, Germany, daughter Lilly born June 1879 in Illinois, daughter Natty (or Nettie) born Sep 1890 in Illinois and George born Jan 1892 in Illinois. Mother Lizzie had 6 children, 3 alive at this time.
1910 census, John was a bookkeeper, Lizza is 53, Lillie H. is 32, born Illinois, Nettie is 20, born Illinois, George is 17, born Illinois. Census was Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois.
1920 census, John in a bookkeeper for a wholesale tobacco company, Lizzie, Lillie, Nettie & George were there. Chicago, Cook Co., IL.
1930 census, John and Lizzie are not on the census. Head of house is George with his two sisters, all single, at Proviso Twp., Maywood Village, Cook Co., Illinois.
