This is the original, framed marriage license for Harry Floyd Swayzee and Nora Odessa Poisel. They were married in Rensselaer, Jasper Co., Indiana on 22 November 1910 by G. H. Clarke. Bev purchased it near Grissom Air Force Base, north of Kokomo, Howard Co., Indiana. The frame is newer.

Harry Floyd SWAYZEE, farmer residing on route 1, Macy, died suddenly at 6 a.m. today from a heart attack. Mr. Swayzee had been in ill health for the past four years, however, his condition had not been regarded as critical. He had been a resident of the Macy community for five years, moving there from Union township, this county. A native of Idaville, Ind., he was born Dec. 22, 1889. His parents were Anthony and Julia (WARD) SWAYZEE. Survivors are his wife, Nora [SWAYZEE]; two sons, Floyd [SWAYZEE] of Washington, D.C., Kenneth [SWAYZEE] of LaPorte; a daughter, Doris [SWAYZEE], at home; two grandchildren; a brother, Ray [SWAYZEE] of Bellvue, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl WEKIN of Detroit and Mrs. Glen RUSSELL of Winamac; a half-brother, Max SWAYZEE of Royal Center and a half-sister, Mrs. Carrie GILBERT of Logansport. A daughter, Marjorie [SWAYZEE], preceded her father in death. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body will be removed from the Harrison funeral home, Kewanna, to the Swayzee residence Saturday afternoon.

Nora O. Poisel Swayzee

Birth: June 9, 1889, Medaryville, Pulaski Co., Indiana

Death: March 13, 1961 South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana

Final rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster & Good funeral home for Nora O. SWAYZEE, 71, South Bend, a former Fulton county resident, who died at 3:10 a.m. today. She died at the home of her son, Kenneth SWAYZEE, South Bend, where she had made her residence for the past nine years. Mrs. Swayzee had been ill for eight years. She was born June 9, 1889, in Medaryville, to John and Maude DAVIS POISEL. She had lived in the Rochester and Kewanna vicinities before moving to South Bend. Her marriage was to Harry F. SWAYZEE, Nov. 22, 1910, at Rensselaer. Mr. Swayzee died in 1948. She attended the Weslyan Methodist church in South Bend. Surviving are one daughter, Miss Doris SWAYZEE, Rochester; two sons, Floyd SWAYZEE, Hyattesville, Md.; and Kenneth SWAYZEE, South Bend; two granddaughters; one sister, Mrs. Ethel HIGHT, Wheatfield, Ind.; one brother, Everett POISEL,Portland, Ore., and several nieces and nephews. The husband, one daughter and her parents preceded her in death. The Rev. Layland SMITH of the South Bend Weslyan Methodist church will officiate at the services and burial will be made in the Kewanna I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Both Nora and Harry Swayzee are buried at Kewanna I. O. O. F. Cemetery, Fulton Co., Indiana.

WINAMAC: MARJORY SWAYZEE: The funeral of Margaret Swayzee, nine years old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Swayzee, east of town, was held Monday at the Kewanna Christian church. Her death occurred Friday due to inflammatory rheumatism. She is survived by her parents, one sister and two brothers.

Doris M. SWAYZEE, 70, a two-year resident of Chase Center, Logansport, and formerly of Rochester, died at 7:15 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Hospital, Logansport. She was born Sept. 27, 1919 near Star Cityto Harry and Nora POISEL SWAYZEE and had lived most of her life in Rochester and Kewanna. She retired from Woodlawn Hospital after 33 years in the dietary department. Surviving are two brothers, Floyd [SWAYZEE], Allentown, Pa., and Kenneth [SWAYZEE], Kokomo, and two nieces, Nancy LINDELL,Allentown, and Leleh SILVERNAIL, Rochester. A sister, Marjorie SWAYZEE, died in 1924. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Foster & Good funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Brian TAMMANY officiating. Burial will be in the Kewanna Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
